During the month of August, Strathcona County will be repaving Raven Drive.  Phase II Ashpalt Road Improvements will begin on August 8, 2023, weather permitting.  Please see below for information regarding this roadwork.

What to expect:

  • Road work will take approximately three weeks to complete
    • Temporary construction signs and barricades will be placed before the work starts.
    • Once all phases have been completed the road will be paved with a final asphalt layer.
  • Access to the church parking lot will be restricted at times - weather permitting we will have no access to the church parking lot beginning on Sunday, August 27.
  • Noise, dust, debris, and uneven surfaces will be present during construction, along with large equipment.
  • The safter of drivers, pedstrians and workers is of utmost priority.  Please slow down and drive with care.
  • Weather can cause unexpected delays.  Although Strathcona County strives to maintain schedules, timeline changes may occur.

Roadwork Timeline

Phase 1 - August 8 - 14

Phase 2 - August 15 - 21

Phase 3 - August 22 - 28

Phase 4 - August 28 - September 10 (this is when work will happen in front of St. Thomas)

Parking Lot Access:

Access to the church parking lot will be restriced during certain construction operations (see above Roadwork Timeline or attached documents below)  While the road base is being reconstructed in front of the church, access to the parking lot and parking on the street will be restricted.  This restriction can be in place for up to 10 days.

Please pay close attention to the flag persons on sit during this process.  When "No Parking" signs are posted, please park on the open side of the street or on another street and walk.  The contract will strive to remove all signs as soon as they are no longer required.

After the road base work has been completed, the entire road of Raven Drive will be closed to traffic for final paving operations.  We will not have access to our parking lot during paving operations.  The contractor will open the roadway as soon as the asphalt has colled sufficiently for traffic.  This typically takes between two to three hours after paving is complete.

St. Thomas will continue to update you on alterantive parking locations for Sunday services.  **Please note: these alternative parking locations will require that you can walk to the church.**  Should you be unable to walk to the church from your car, we will continue to Live Steam our services so that you can worship with us from home.  Access to the church during the week may also be restricted, staff may need to work from home and we ask that you call the church before stopping by in case we are not here or there is no access to the building.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding throughout this process.  We will continue to update you regarding this road work throughour weekly Email Updats and these new postings.
