Ladies Lunch

The ladies' luncheons are held on the third Wednesday of the month (October - May)  from 11:30 a.m. until about 1:00 p.m.  All women in the congregation of any age (and their friends) are most welcome to attend.

We meet at Headquarters Restauraunt (#101, 100 Granada Blvd) in the back party room.  Here we have the opporutnity to visit and mingle without having to compete with the noise of the restauraunt.  All ladies are asked to look after the purchase of their own meals.

Any ladies who would like to attend for the first time are asked to contact Vicki Clark through the church office.  Once in touch with Vicki you will be called at the beginning of the week before each luncheon to find out whether or not they will be attending.   Should you need a ride, transportation to and from the restauraunt can be arranged.  Please contact the office.

We look forward to meeting you and getting to know you better!

Centering Prayer
Recovering the mystical heart of the Christian Wisdom Tradition

We may think of prayer as thoughts or feelings expressed in words.  But this is only expression.

In the Christian tradition contemplative prayer is considered to be the pure gift of God.  It is the opening of mind and heart - our whole being -to God, the Ultimate Mystery, beyond thoughts, words, and emotions. Through grace we open our awareness to God whom we know by faith is within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than choosing, closer than consciousness itself.

Centering Prayer is a method designed to facilitate the development of contemplative prayer by preparing our faculties to receive this gift. It presents ancient Christian wisdom teachings in an updated form. Centering Prayer is not meant to replace other kinds of prayer; rather it casts a new light and depth of meaning on them. It is at the same time a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship. This method of prayer is a movement beyond conversation with Christ to communion with him.

At St Thomas we meet Tuesdays from  7:00 – 8:00pm, Sept 1 through June 30.  After 20 minutes of Centering Prayer, we enjoy a short reading or video, followed by contemplative discussion.
